The Seruho House, a 200 sqm home designed for a 3rd generation private developer with an appreciation for modernist values, local patronage and technical innovations. It boasts its geometric form yet is grounded by the materiality of its typical Filipino surroundings. Pebble washout, solid wood and rusted metal to name a few. Glass blocks on the other hand evoke a sense of stability and balance, between old and new, traditional and modern. It. unifies modernist and tropical design directives. Its brute materiality is carried over from the exterior while local furniture pieces, pivoting doors and typical insect screens preserve the vernacular spirit of the owners personality
